DOH triggers Code White alert in Metro Manila

THE Department of Health (DOH) – Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD) declared “Code White Alert” for all hospitals and health facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR) as part of its preparations for the celebration of All Saints’ Day. ” and All Saints’ Day.

In a statement, the DOH-MMCHD said the “Code White Alert” would be in effect throughout Metro Manila from October 31 to November 2, when the public is expected to flock to cemeteries and columbariums to visit their deceased loved ones.

“This is a precautionary measure to ensure the availability of medical services in light of the expected influx of visitors to cemeteries and increased travel,” the DOH-MMCHD said.

Under the White Alert Code, all medical staff in hospitals and health offices are on alert and ready to provide necessary health services.

“This measure is particularly important during the holidays, when large gatherings are expected, which can potentially lead to health emergencies,” the Health Ministry said.

The DOH-MMCHD said this also means that the Regional Operations Center (OPCEN) is activated to monitor events and coordinate with the Health Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM-H) of government units local (LGU).

“This operation will ensure that health facilities can respond effectively to any medical emergencies that may arise,” the statement said.

The DOH-MMCHD also said all health emergency response teams and necessary medical supplies were placed on standby and ready for immediate deployment, if necessary.

“This includes the availability of essential medical products and trained personnel to handle various health situations,” the DOH-MMCHD said.

On Friday and Saturday (November 1 and 2), Filipinos are expected to head to cemeteries and columbariums to visit their deceased loved ones as part of Undas. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
