Bhushan Kumar admits to having ‘arguments’ with Singham Again team: they were unfair

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 producer Bhushan Kumar has opened up about his arguments with the Singham Again team over the box office clash during Diwali. In a recent interview, while acknowledging that the dust had now settled, he criticized the crime drama’s crew for being “unfair”.

Bhushan spoke to Connect the cinema and mentioned that he was in favor of an equal split of screens between the two films, but this could not happen. He said his team approached the Competition Commission to discuss fair practices for both films, but things did not fall into place.

The producer said, “I did not approach the Competition Commission. We had a lot of arguments with the Singham Again team because they were unfair. In all the investigation reports, we were equal .Based on this, we had sought the commission to keep the screen allocation at 50-50. As our film was equally important, we demanded equal justice.

He added that the distributors were supporting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 despite their other commitments, but he had to put in a lot of effort to ensure a level playing field during the release earlier this month. “I don’t want to blame the theater chains. Since they were the distributors of the other film, they had some reservations. They still wanted to support us to a large extent. We had a lot of tug-of-war between that” , he shared.

Bhushan revealed that he had asked the team to evaluate the pre-booking response for further analysis. The producer said Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 performed exceptionally well with its pre-sales activity and this boosted their confidence.

He further admitted that there was a time when he felt like things were getting “nasty”, but in the end, both films found their audience and started earning just as well at the box office. “We argued about it, but in the end everything got back to normal. Both films went very well. It got a little unpleasant, but they also assured me that they wouldn’t let my film suffered losses When they saw the result, they also helped us,” he concluded.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again hit the screens on November 1 during the big Diwali releases. Both films continue to perform well in theaters and have registered a combined company of around Rs 440 crore nett in 15 days nationally.
