The Haryana section of the 669 km-long Delhi-Amritsar-Katra highway has been opened for traffic. This highway will significantly reduce the road travel time from Delhi to Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir via Amritsar.

Vehicles can now travel this 135 km stretch from the Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway to the Punjab border in Kaithal district, also known as the Greenfield Expressway. Although construction work is still underway on around 261 km stretch in Punjab, toll collection has started on the 135 km stretch.

A total of eight toll gates have been constructed on this section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra highway.

On the KMP-Kaithal section of the Delhi-Katra Expressway, the toll rates are as follows:

  • Light motor vehicles (cars, jeeps, etc.): Rs 240 one way, Rs 360 return
  • Light commercial vehicles: Rs 385 one way, Rs 580 return
  • Two-axle buses and trucks: Rs 805 one way, Rs 1210 return
  • Three-axle utility vehicles: Rs 880 one way, Rs 1320 return

The toll tax will be collected in the same manner with a slip issued at each entry point and payment due on exit.

Toll gates have been installed at different locations, with the first one on the Delhi-Amritsar Expressway being established near the KMP Expressway. The rest of the toll plazas have been set up on Kharkhoda-Sampla road, Rohtak-Kharkhoda road, Panipat-Rohtak road, Jind-Gohana-Sonipat road, Rajasthan-Panipat road, Karnal-Jind road and Kaithal-Narwana.

According to NHAI officials, the construction of the National Highway and National Highway interchange on the highway will be completed by March 2025.

Delhi to Katra in just 6 hours

The Delhi-Katra Expressway will significantly reduce travel time. While Delhi to Katra will be only 6 hours away, it will take four hours to reach Amritsar via this highway. This highway will also facilitate access to cities like Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.

The highway will pass through Jind, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur. Near Nakodar, the Greenfield Expressway will split into two parts: one towards Amritsar and the other towards Katra.
