THE List of the most beautiful campuses in the world for 2024 presents six recently opened or renovated university buildings that tick all the boxes: creativity, reflection of local heritage, ecological efficiency and lasting impact on their environment.

Designed by architects Raglan Squire & Partners, Toyo Ito & Associates, the 43,500 square meter campus takes the title of Asia’s largest wooden building. It’s also named after the ancient Greek goddess of the Earth – which is very fitting for its grandeur if you ask us. The striking structure features a gently arched facade, rising 220 meters with six floors including light-filled atriums and outdoor study spaces.

And talk about a space that’s as durable as it is stunning; NTU Gaia is constructed almost entirely from solid wood – a revolutionary engineered wood stacked in layers and bonded with powerful adhesives. Not only is it a highly renewable material, but its use of mass engineered wood also enhances environmental sustainability. Additionally, with its impressive strength-to-weight ratio, solid wood is easier to handle than steel or concrete, making it a game-changer in modern construction.

Here are the six most beautiful campuses in the world for 2024, according to the Prix Versailles:

  • Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg Center (Washington DC, USA)
