'Insult to India': Calcutta hospital says it will not treat Bangladeshi patients

NEW DELHI: A hospital in Kolkata’s Manicktala area said it would no longer treat Bangladeshi patientsciting protests against alleged atrocities against Hindu minority in Bangladesh.
An official of the JN Ray Hospital said the decision was motivated by incidents of disrespect towards the indian flag by citizens of Bangladesh.
“We have issued a notification that from today until an indefinite date, we will not admit any Bangladeshi patient for treatment. This is mainly due to the insults they have shown towards India” , hospital official Subhranshu Bhakt told news agency PTI on Friday.
The manager further called others health facilities in Kolkata to adopt similar measures as a protest against the reported mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh.
“Seeing that the tricolor is being insulted, we have decided to stop treating the Bangladeshis. India played an important role in their independence but despite this, we are witnessing anti-Indian sentiments. We hope that others hospitals will support us and take similar measures,” he said. added.
