Guwahati: BJPis co-responsible for Jharkhand polls and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma On Sunday, he urged the JMM-led government to take oath, fulfill its constitutional duty and prioritize identification and deportation of people. illegal infiltratorsreports Kangkan Kalita.
“I have spent the last four months in Jharkhand as a party member to help the party and encourage it. We fought the elections together and did our best. Even though we did not succeed in our mission in Jharkhand, it does not mean that we should not strive to win in the future. Today’s failure is the foundation of tomorrow’s success,” Sarma said in a social media post. He stressed that the problem of infiltrators would cause considerable damage to the state if immediate measures were not implemented. “I would like to appeal to the Jharkhand government to expel or at least detect the infiltrators in Jharkhand as it is our constitutional responsibility. I hope the Jharkhand government will take up this responsibility. As the opposition in the Assembly, I request our elected MPs to continue to raise this issue,” he added. It is notable that Sarma was able to devote minimal time to polls for five assembly seats in Assam, due to his busy schedule in Jharkhand. However, the NDA swept the polls in Assam, with the BJP winning all three seats – Behali, Dholai and Samaguri – that it contested, while its alliance partners Asom Gana Parishad and UPPL also registered decisive victories in the assemblies from Bongaigaon and Sidli.
Later, speaking to the media at a press conference here on Sunday, Sarma said that considering the demography of Jharkhand, he knew that it was not a simple election for the BJP. Sarma had earlier termed Jharkhand a difficult state for the BJP.
